Bilingualism

Children who are exposed to different languages have enhanced cognitive development, improved language skills and increased cultural awareness. 

Attending a Bilingual Pre-School can be a really fun and engaging experience for children. Learning through songs, games and stories, children quickly start to develop their understanding in the second language.

Research has shown that children who have been exposed to more than one language, have greater abilities in multi-tasking, problem solving and communication skills.

At La Maternelle, we follow the One Person One One Language Approach. This means that children will only be spoken in one language by one person, this supports communication and helps reduce confusion.

During their day at nursery children will only be spoken in French by their French speaking teachers and English by their English speaking teachers. Teachers will not mix between languages to support children’s understanding.
